Bournemouth hotel sold through Christie & Co

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has successfully brokered the sale of the highly regarded Hallmark Hotel Bournemouth West Cliff on behalf of Topland Group.

Set in a 1.6 acre plot, the substantial red brick hotel comprises 83 en suite bedrooms, bar, restaurant, lounge, five meeting and event rooms and plentiful leisure facilities including an indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and fitness suite. A popular wedding, meeting and events venue, it attracts both local and national corporate clients as well as being well placed for leisure guests wanting to explore the local area and the beautiful Jurassic Coastline.

Following an extensive marketing campaign which generated multiple offers, the hotel has been successfully sold to new owners, Motoring and Leisure Services Ltd (MLS).

Alex Campbell, Director in Christie & Co’s Corporate Hotels team, handled the sale with Ed Bellfield, Regional Director at Christie & Co’s Winchester office, and comments; “I am delighted to have been part of the sale of such a high-profile business within Bournemouth. The marketing process attracted a significant level of interest from both hotel investors and operators, with numerous offers submitted for the freehold trading going concern.

“The market in Bournemouth for hotels remains robust with demand outstripping supply for good quality, well located, hotel businesses.”

GVA advised MLS on the freehold purchase. David Creamore, GVA, said: “The West Cliff hotel represents a significant investment for MLS. Bournemouth is one of the top leisure destinations on the south coast with a cosmopolitan and cultural town centre that offers a wealth of bars and restaurants. Tourism accounts for some 15% of the town’s total economy – or £501 million per annum – and the hotel sector remains a robust yardstick of overall interest.”

Dentons LLP advised the Topland Group.
