Thirty-six years is a long time for a hotel to be run by the same family but that’s how long the Jersey Farm Hotel has been run by the Watsons.
After five years doing B&B in 1976, John, Jean and Mark Watson decided to diversify and establish the acclaimed Jersey Farm Hotel. From the humble beginnings of four rooms, the hotel now boasts 22 rooms including seven luxury suites and four poster rooms, a restaurant (seating over 100) conference facilities and, of course, The Barn - a purpose-built function suite catering for a variety of weddings and social gatherings.
However, this success story is due to come to an end. After so many years looking after many guests and getting up early to serve breakfasts, John and Jean have decided to retire and take life a little easier. Jersey Farm Hotel has a team of managers and staff who will continue to provide the same excellent level of service for the new owners and all future bookings will be honoured.
John Watson reminisces: “We have come a long way from serving guests in our own front room. We started after local people asked us to serve meals and now we have guests who come from all over the world to visit us and, of course, get married with us.”
The hotel is currently on the market with Christie + Co at £1,100,000 and includes six acres of arable land that surround the hotel. It may even come with some Shetland ponies that make their home at Jersey Farm.
