A general store, situated in the highly sought-after coastal village of Alnmouth in Northumberland, has been placed on the market through the Newcastle Office of leading business agents, Christie + Co.
Alnmouth Grocer is located on the main street amongst a wide range of guest houses, bed and breakfast businesses, public houses, a newsagent with post office, a hairdresser and a tea room. The business occupies the ground floor of a spacious two-storey end-terrace property and comprises a convenience store, which includes an off licence, a delicatessen counter and a themed ice-cream parlour.
The business sells a variety of products, such as convenience foods, biscuits, cakes, fudges, gift boxes, preserves, bread, off licence products, dairy produce, a range of gifts and quality local products, such as t-shirts, ornaments, DVDs and cards. There is also a luxury picnic hamper service available and the business supplies products to local businesses wholesale, as well as working with nearby holiday cottages. The business recently won a Silver Award in the North Northumberland Local Food Awards.
Andrew Birnie, from Christie + Co’s Newcastle Office, who is handling the sale, commented; “The current owners, Mr and Mrs Tilmouth, have owned the business for five years and in this time they have made improvements to what was an already well established local store. Business is generated throughout the year, with an increase in the spring and summer months from the tourist trade, but Mr and Mrs Tilmouth believe that there is still huge growth potential as many of the new products and services are still in their infancy. The couple have decided to sell due to the birth of their twins and are looking to change their working patterns.”
Christie + Co is seeking £199,000 + stock for the freehold interest of Alnmouth Grocer.
