14/17796 La Hogue Farm Shop & Delicatessen
The multi-award winning La Hogue Farm Shop & Delicatessen in Chippenham, near Newmarket, which has been described in a Daily Telegraph article as ‘an outstanding farm shop’, has been placed on the market through the Ipswich Office of leading business agents, Christie + Co.
The business is situated on La Hogue Farm and borders the Chippenham Farm estate, with Newmarket approximately three miles away. The farm shop occupies a fully converted single storey building, with a wooden veranda front entrance and a parking area for 30 plus vehicles. The sales area measures approximately 2,200 sq ft, with a rear stockroom, a farm kitchen, a preparation area, an office area and staff facilities.
The shop specialises in an extensive range of home and locally produced food, organic products, global specialist food, fruit and vegetables, freshly baked bread, regional jams, chutneys, pickles, preserves, cooking ingredients and specialist teas and coffees. The butchery department offers local meat and game from free range farms in Suffolk, Cambridge and Norfolk. The delicatessen has an extensive range of over 80 different cheeses, ham, salami, and olives and the commercial farm kitchen sells a range of gourmet award winning food, homemade cakes, pastries and quiches.
Melvyn Eke, from Christie + Co’s Ipswich Office, who is handling the sale, commented; “This national award winning business was established in 2002 by the current owners, Chris and Jo Reeks, and in this time they have built up a reputable highly regarded business, which has received many accolades, including the National Daily Telegraph Business Award in 2004/2005, the Best Food Shop in East Anglia in 2006 by the Observer and was voted as one of Britain’s top 30 farm shops in 2007 by the Daily Mail. This is a rare acquisition opportunity which would benefit any potential buyer, whether it‘s a first business or an additional or second business for an existing operator.”
Offers in excess of £100,000 are being sought for the leasehold interest of La Hogue Farm Shop & Delicatessen, with an annual rent of £15,000.
