Family-run restaurant in the Scottish Borders for sale

After 12 successful years at Russell’s Restaurant, on the corner of the Market Square in the picturesque town of Melrose in Roxburghshire, proprietor Ritchie Russell is looking towards retirement, having placed his family-run business on the market with the Edinburgh office of leading licensed property agents, Christie + Co.
Regarded as one of the prettiest towns in the Borders, Melrose is located between the Eildon Hills and the River Tweed, midway between the A68 and the A7, main link roads to Edinburgh and the north of England.
Russell’s Restaurant occupies the ground floor and basement levels of a character stone property facing the town’s Market Square. The business currently trades as a daytime café-bistro and tearoom providing the very best of traditional, homemade Scottish cooking, using local produce. Cakes, scones and shortbread are all baked on the premises. Platters of fresh and smoked salmon, home-cooked meats and chef's specials are all made from the finest Scottish produce and a fine selection of speciality teas are coffees is available.
