New owner for The Glass House bar in St Albans

The Glass House, a vibrant and contemporary bar in the heart of historic St Albans, Hertfordshire, has been has been placed on the market with the Milton Keynes office of leading licensed property agents, Christie + Co.
Licensee Anna Bright has sold the lease of the Glass House after three successful years, during which time she has established the business as a hub of the local community, hosting a variety of events, private parties and entertainment as well as offering lunchtime and evening food menus and a wide selection of quality wines and cocktails.
The Glass House occupies a Victorian building which has been recently refurbished to a contemporary design, while retaining original 19th Century character features. The bar stands on the corner of Victoria Street in one of the city’s main shopping areas, close to the Maltings Shopping Centre and within a short walk of the magnificent Cathedral and Abbey Church and other historic attractions.
The property comprises a main bar to seat 90, a catering kitchen and three-bedroom owner’s accommodation. Outside there is an enclosed, decked beer garden to seat 100 with freestanding patio heaters and a covered smoking area as well as two private parking spaces.

Once a buyer had been found the whole transaction was completed very quickly. The new lessee, Mr Franks, is keen to tap into a younger clientele in the local area.”
Christie + Co has sold the leasehold interest in the Glass House for an undisclosed figure, after seeking £70,000. The lease, which is from Punch Taverns, runs until 2023 and current annual rent is £48,500.
