A fair deal for the Fairfield Tavern in Kingston Upon Thames

22/56932 The Marlborough (formerly The Newt & Ferret)

The Marlborough public house in Fairfield South, Kingston Upon Thames, has been sold by the Epsom Office of national business agents, Christie + Co.

The new licensee plans to fully refurbish the Marlborough, both internally and externally, to take advantage of the large beer garden and to reopen offering a selection of beers and ciders along with good quality food. Situated just outside the town centre, which offers one of the most popular retail destinations in north Surrey, the pub will also benefit from the high volume of residential dwellings, in addition to its locality to Kingston University.

The Marlborough will be reopening under the name the Fairfield Tavern and the new licensees are keen to restore the pub to its former glory.

Barry Fitzgerald of Christie + Co, who handled the sale, commented: "With the Marlborough having been closed for over a year, I am pleased that the new operators are now in place and ready to reopen this well-known pub. With the perceived negativity that surrounds the pub trade, it is heartening to see that good quality pubs are still very much in demand."
