Blyth Hotel, an exceptional boutique hotel in Southwold, one of England’s finest seaside towns, has been sold by Christie + Co.
The leasehold interest of the award-winning business has been acquired by husband-and-wife team Richard and Julia Hoban for an undisclosed sum off an asking price of £120,000.
The outgoing operators, Richard and Charlie Ashwell appointed Christie + Co to sell their business after deciding to embark on new careers elsewhere.
Famed for its outstanding restaurant, the Blyth Hotel is prominently located in the heart of the Suffolk Heritage coast in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The stylishly restored Edwardian building encompasses 13 en-suite rooms, a spacious bar, lounge and restaurant.
Over the years the hotel has received a clutch of awards for its food and accommodation including a 2-AA Star Small Hotel rating, an AA Rosette for food quality and has also featured featuring in the Daily Telegraph's Top Ten Hotels in England. Locally, the hotel was the winner of Best Restaurant in the EADT's Suffolk Magazine Food and Drink Awards.
Tim Gooding, Director at Christie + Co’s Ipswich office handled the sale. He comments: “We are delighted to have sold the business on behalf of Rick and Charlie and wish them all the best in their new careers. We also congratulate Richard and Julia on this excellent acquisition and wish them success in their exciting new venture.”
