The Lanes, a contemporary boutique country hotel in the picturesque Somerset village of West Coker, has been sold in a deal brokered by specialist property advisor Christie + Co.

Outgoing vendors John and Alison Roehrig pass the torch to experienced hoteliers Shaun Whitehouse and Tim Turner after nine years of successful trading.

The Roehrigs completely renovated and reconstructed the hotel in 2004, and reopened it for trade the following year. The property sits on approximately three acres of beautiful gardens and grounds and boasts 30 bedrooms including a penthouse suite, restaurant, conference room and leisure facilities including a spa pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and gym.

Lanes Hotel enjoys a regular loyal patronage and is frequented by guests from local companies including Augusta Westland Helicopter manufacturing, Honeywell and Screwfix who choose the hotel, because of its elegance and unobtrusive service.

Shaun and Tim are looking forward to taking over this fine hotel, created by John and Alison Roehrig.  They commented: “This unique property has been developed to a very high specification and we see opportunities to further develop wedding trade as the grounds and gardens are ideally suited for a fantastic wedding backdrop, as well as creating a relaxed and informal cuisine with an emphasis on quality ingredients sourced locally”.

“We are here for the long term and our focus is to continue to deliver exceptional service in charming and peaceful surroundings. The added bonus for us is that the area is delightful with so much to see and do in the immediate vicinity”.

Jonathan Hill, Director at Christie + Co’s Bristol office, transacted the sale.  He said: “This is a tremendous opportunity for the purchasers Shaun Whitehouse and Tim Turner to further develop this exceptional country hotel, and we wish them every success in their new venture”.
