Wareham pub to re-open after period of closure

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has brokered the sale of The Horse & Groom in the Dorset town of Wareham.

Having been closed for several months, this Grade II listed town centre pub received a huge amount of interest following its exposure to the market, which culminated in multiple offers before being agreed to experienced operator, Max Lacy.

Max, who acquired The Black Horse in Wimborne through Christie & Co in 2014, moved swiftly to acquire The Horse & Groom as it represented an ideal opportunity for him to expand his current pub portfolio. Plans are afoot to refurbish the entire pub before the search begins for a publican to take on a new lease.

Richard Wood, Business Agent in Christie & Co’s Winchester office comments, “It is always good to be involved in a sale through which a pub re-opens, especially when it’s going to be in the hands of a well known and successful pub landlord such as Max Lacy.  We were pleasantly surprised with the amount of interest we received in this property and are actively seeking similar opportunities in the locality.”

The Horse & Groom was sold off a guide price of £295,000 plus VAT.
