Chichester nursing home gains experienced new owner

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has successfully completed the sale of Abbas Combe Nursing Home in the historic cathedral city of Chichester, West Sussex.

Situated just south of the city centre, Abbas Combe has 23 bedrooms, is registered for 25 residents and provides nursing and social care for the elderly set in an accessible and affluent location close to local shops, restaurants and St Richard’s Hospital.

The site is located off the A27 and Whyke Road, providing easy transport links whilst being screened from the main roads by trees and wooden fencing, providing security and privacy for the rear lawn garden and patio and front garden and car parking area.

A confidential marketing campaign was carried out which resulted in a number of offers being received, with the sale concluding to experienced providers in the sector, Cinnamon Care Collection. It is their intention to replace the existing building with a purpose built, more efficient care facility on the site.

Romesh Dharmasingham, Director of Lotus Care Ltd, the vendor of the property, comments, “Having recently sold The Hurst Care Home in Worthing through Christie & Co, we are delighted to have now achieved the sale of Abbas Combe, our final care home, as we are looking to pursue other business interests. Charles managed to maintain confidentiality throughout the sale process which was important to us and it has been a pleasure dealing with Christie & Co during our two sales.  We wish Cinnamon all the best with their plans.”

Kenneth MacKenzie, Development Director for the new owner, Cinnamon Care Collection, comments, “We see this prominent site next to the A27 in Chichester as an excellent opportunity to build a modern purpose-built care home in this historic city. We are looking forward to offering our future residents high quality care accommodation and this purchase further emphasises our commitment to the long-term care sector.”

Charles Phillips, Director at Christie & Co’s Winchester office, handled the sale and comments, “Having sold the care home to Lotus Care back in 2005, I was delighted to receive instructions to market the home when the decision was taken to sell. During our client’s ownership the home has been upgraded and planning permission obtained to extend. This planning permission made the opportunity desirable to many applicants.

“With exciting plans in place for future development of the site, I have no doubt that based on current developments, Cinnamon will create an excellent new care home which will benefit the local and wider community.”
