Devonshire town centre pub comes to the market

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has been appointed to sell the freehold interest of The Old Market Inn situated in the town of Holsworthy, North Devon.

Occupying a prominent position in the heart of the market town, The Old Market Inn benefits from a welcoming atmosphere and loyal local following. The pub is full of character features and has an open plan lounge and bar with a separate restaurant to the rear of the property. The host of pool leagues throughout the summer and winter months, the pub has even been the venue for the local pool league championship finals in recent years.

The trade is predominantly wet led, however the pub does still feature a bustling restaurant with a popular Sunday Carvery. The property also benefits from three en suite letting rooms paired with a three bedroom owner’s apartment that has separate access and a large private roof terrace.

Current owners, Mr & Mrs Sycamore are looking to move on from The Old Market Inn in order to pursue retirement and comment, “It has been a very good business to run and we have enjoyed a good life working and living here.”

Stephen Champion, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co’s Exeter office is handling the sale and comments, “The current owners Mr & Mrs Sycamore are selling after 12 years of ownership due to retirement. The Old Market Inn represents a great opportunity for a hands-on operator to take advantage of considerable cost savings by being more involved in the day to day running of the businesses.

“Christie & Co continues to see a strong for demand for pub businesses across the South West, with high levels of first time buyer activity fueled by the bank’s continued appetite to lend.”

The Old Market Inn is being sold off a freehold asking price of £340,000.
