Stock Village Store & Post Office finds new owner

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has sold Stock Village Store & Post Office, located in the highly sought after and affluent village of Stock, nestled within the London commuter belt in south Essex.

Ideally located on the corner of High Street and Swan Lane, the 1,100 sq ft trading area offers a range of products, including convenience goods, fresh fruit and vegetables, hardware products, confectionery, news, tobacco and off license, as well as National Lottery and post office services. The store has been recently refitted and refurbished by the previous owners, which has led to a strong increase in turnover. Additionally, there is substantial five bedroom owner’s accommodation split across the ground and first floors.

The previous owners owned and operated the store since 1994, during which time they have built a loyal customer base.

The store has been acquired by Billericay based business, Plaistow Broadway Filling Stations Ltd, who plan to build on the store’s existing trade and convert the upper levels of the property into three luxury flats. They comment, “We are delighted to have acquired this long established business. In our view, this is a landmark building situated in one of Essex’s most sought after villages. We are looking forward to serving the needs of the local community, as well as providing new, high quality residential accommodation.”

Adam Sellers, Business Agent at Christie & Co handled the sale and comments, “This was not a straightforward deal given the high value of the underlying property in comparison to the turnover the store was achieving. Plaistow Broadway Filling Stations are the ideal buyers for this opportunity, and we wish them every success for the future.”
