Droitwich Spa Nursery & Kindergarten sold through Christie & Co

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has brokered the sale of Droitwich Spa Nursery & Kindergarten, a market leading, multi award winning children’s day nursery situated in a prominent position in the town of Droitwich, Worcestershire, to leading international childcare provider, Busy Bees.

Rated as Ofsted Outstanding in its last three inspections, the setting caters for children ages six weeks to five years, with six separate units covering the different stages of a child’s development, from baby to pre-school. With a highly qualified staff team in place, the business is well-equipped to provide top quality childcare and offers leading amenities, including a forest school and extensive outside classrooms and play areas.

Having been in the industry for over 25 years and operated Droitwich Spa Nursery & Kindergarten since 1993, previous owners Nick and Philippa Fell decided to sell the business in order to retire.  Philippa Fell comments, “I believe we have found an ideal partner with Busy Bees. After 25 years of watching our nursery grow, I have no doubt that Busy Bees will continue our hard work, and the setting will thrive under their guidance. I have every faith that the quality of care, education and support will remain the nursery’s biggest asset and that our excellent staff will have great opportunities for further career development.”

Nick Fell adds, “Thank you to Nick at Christie & Co for all his efforts, not just in the last few months, but in all the meetings we had leading up to making the decision to sell.”

Marg Randles, Chief Academic Officer and Co-Founder of Busy Bees comments, "We are pleased to welcome Droitwich Spa Nursery & Kindergarten to the Busy Bees family. After seeing the brilliant staff and their abilities, we are confident that this nursery is as passionate about childcare as we are. Our main priority is to allow children the opportunities that will give them the best start in life and these values lie at the heart of The Hollies. We pride ourselves on the strong communication links we have with parents and staff to enable the transition to be as smooth as possible."

Nick Brown, Head of Brokerage – Childcare, who handled the sale comments, “We have been working with both Nick and Philippa Fell for several years, providing market updates and advice as to when the best time would be to retire from the industry.

“Following their decision to sell, we were engaged to run a highly confidential sales process to a pool of active buyers from the UK and further afield, which ultimately proved very successful and a deal was agreed at a level which reiterates that the market is exceptionally buoyant and brimming with high quality, well-funded buyers.

“This fantastic property has been converted over the years into a first class setting for approximately 200 children who currently attend. Its reputation is second to none and the business continues to grow year on year.

“The sale is another prime example of how Christie & Co has formed a long-standing relationship with a seller which has resulted in the owners choosing the best time to retire from the industry, which they have been in for over 25 years.”
