Seafront hotel in Folkestone comes to the market

The Southcliff Hotel, an elegant two star seafront hotel overlooking the English Channel in the port town of Folkestone, has been brought to the market through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.

The hotel occupies five former substantial Victorian town houses, which were converted into two hotels in the 1930s and finally joined to become one in 1980. Arranged over six floors, the property provides 72 en suite guest bedrooms, several guest lounges and function spaces throughout the ground and basement levels, and one of the best cocktail and music bars in town, The Blue Martini. The owner’s accommodation is located on the basement level and comprises two en suite bedrooms and a mini kitchen.

Situated on Folkestone’s seafront and a mere five minute walk from the high street and Leas Cliff Hall, The Southcliff Hotel features magnificent sea views from its front terrace, attracting guests from both the UK and overseas due to its convenient location near Dover, London, Maidstone and the Channel Tunnel.

The 2 Star AA hotel maintains an excellent reputation thanks to the owner’s years of experience and attention to detail. Current owner, Patrick Dubus acquired the hotel through Christie & Co in 2002 and is now looking forward to a well earned retirement.

Andrew Moore, Director at Christie & Co’s Maidstone’s office is handling the sale and comments, “The Southcliff Hotel represents a great opportunity to acquire a successful business which benefits from a great deal of repeat custom and has the potential to take it to a new level.

“The hotel is surrounded by an array of attractions a short drive away, including Leas Cliff Hall, which hosts many events from well known comedians to headline acts, Lower Leas Coastal Park, a free adventure playground, Dover Castle, the Battle of Britain Memorial in Capel le Ferne and the Harbour Arm promenade, which offers fantastic views and eateries.”

Christie & Co is seeking £999,000 for the long leasehold interest in The Southcliff Hotel.
