Prime multi million pound London nursery group sold by Christie & Co

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has recently completed on the sale of Little Garden Day Nurseries, a group of four London based nurseries.

Over the last 30 years, the group has been renowned for providing high quality childcare to a range of age groups, accommodated for across the four settings which are all Ofsted rated ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’. The well established nursery group boasts an exceptional growing annual fee income, and healthy annual profits to match.

Previous owners, Anne de Zoysa and Sue Woodford-Hollick OBE founded the company 30 years ago in order to provide much needed, high-quality childcare for working women. Mrs Woodford-Hollick has established a well-known reputation as a journalist, businesswoman and campaigner in a career spanning 40 years, and brought her expertise together with Ms de Zoysa to build the business into the thriving group it has become, ultimately deciding to sell the business on its 30th anniversary as they both look to retire from the industry.

They comment, “We’re sad to be leaving Little Garden Day Nurseries after so long but are particularly pleased to be selling to investors who plan to use their substantial resources to back the existing team, enhance the service and expand the group. We wish everyone the very best for an exciting future.”

Nick Brown, Head of Brokerage – Childcare at Christie & Co comments, “We were instructed by the owners of Little Garden Nursery Group to facilitate a highly confidential sales process which comprised eager interest from a wide pool of potential acquirers. The global interest in this London group from operators and investors was exceptional. It has been a pleasure working with Ms de-Zoysa and Lady Woodford-Hollick to ultimately achieve a sale price that represents the investment Anne and Sue have made in the business, team and estate.  I would like to wish them all the best for their impending retirement.”

Courteney Donaldson, Managing Director – Childcare & Education at Christie & Co comments, “Following initial discussions, our specialist team at Christie & Co were appointed to ensure a transparent sale process to ensure the best deal was achieved for all the shareholders.  We wish all parties the very best and are sure that this incredibly high quality group of nurseries will continue to thrive with the backing of its new ownership partners.”
