Christie + Co, the hospitality and leisure professional services adviser has been instructed to sell The Old Hall Country House in South Cheshire.

The Old Hall, formally a Tudor farmhouse, sits on its own private grounds of approximately two acres and offers luxury bed and breakfast accommodation in the picturesque, historic village of Madeley. The original building dates back to c1530, is timber framed and has attracted previous monarchs over the years in the guise of Charles I who hid in its priest hole and Queen Margaret of Scotland on her way to battle in Eccleshall.

The recently refurbished residence offers four individually-decorated letting rooms, all of which are furnished to the highest standards and feature king size beds, plasma flat screen TVs and DVD players, tea/coffee making facilities and spacious en-suite bathrooms.

The handsome two-storey property boasts a beautiful Victorian Orangery overlooking the rear gardens along with a bright and airy Breakfast room. There is also an out-building, formerly a Victorian Laundry room which has been developed into a bar — perfect for weddings and functions.

The Old Hall experiences fantastic wedding trade and caters for weddings of up to 120 people within the private grounds under a marquee. The business is fully licensed for both internal and external weddings with Newcastle under Lyme Registrars.

Tom Hodgson of Christie + Co’s Manchester office says: “Our clients have owned the business for seven years; they now wish to sell in order to relocate. The business has operated successfully for a number of years from multiple revenue streams including the four bedroom luxury letting accommodation, wedding trade and also other functions. There remains considerable scope to improve trade with increased marketing of the wedding venue and also development of further bedrooms to the upper floors.”
