The property, which is set across two floors on the busy Main Street, has seating for 79 customers, with a further 57 accommodated on the large terrace to the rear. Situated in the heart of the popular Lake District town, the business caters to the high volume of tourists drawn to the area alongside the local community.

Pillar House has been purchased by local brand Fellpack, who have operated a coffee shop and restaurant of the same name, on nearby Lake Road, since 2017.

Fellpack plan to operate the former Pillar House premises as their second, larger site within the town, introducing evening meals and alcoholic beverages alongside the daytime food menu. Chris Gill, one of the founding members of Fellpack, comments, “Ashley Cobban at Christie & Co helped make the difficult process of buying a business as smooth as possible. There were plenty of challenges in getting the deal done and Ashley was always on hand to offer a patient ear and constructive suggestions, making sure we never lost sight of the overall commercial objectives that both we and the seller had originally agreed to. This was no small feat, given the circumstances, and we’re immensely grateful for the assistance.”

Ashley Cobban, Business Agent at Christie & Co who handled the sale, comments, “Though this attractive property generated interest from further afield, it’s great to see ownership transfer to a local operator making an additional investment in Keswick. We’re witnessing increasing demand for coffee shops throughout the North West, as consumers seek out individual experiences that can’t be provided by high street brands.”
