The business occupies a prominent position on the A577 Ormskirk Road, the main thoroughfare from the west into Wigan town centre. As such, it is relied upon by the local community and offers a range of household products, confectionery, bakery goods, dairy, canned goods, tobacco and alcohol. Additional custom is generated by the on-site ATM, as well as the National Lottery and PayPoint services.

The store has been owned for the past three years by Dharmesh Mepani who sought a sale in order to pursue business interests outside of the convenience retail sector. Mr. Mepani comments, “The shop was brought up from ground zero, and a lot of thought and effort was put into the planning and opening. The new owner, Mr looks very keen to take the business to the next level and I am confident that he will be able to do so. We have worked very hard over the years to establish a strong bond with the local community, and I have full confidence that Sanjeevan will continue to do so in the future.”

The business has been acquired by Sanjeevan Nathan, a first time buyer who has gained considerable retail experience, having previously worked within his family’s convenience stores, and was keen to acquire a store of his own. He plans to increase turnover through the introduction of a variety of new income streams and comments, “I’m looking forward to building the business, and as a first time buyer I’m grateful for the help and support provided by Christie & Co.”

Ashley Cobban, Business Agent at Christie & Co handled the sale and comments, “We’re pleased to have assisted Dharmesh in finding a buyer for his business, and it’s great to see ownership pass to an enthusiastic, young operator who will continue to serve the local community. Regionally, demand for convenience stores in urban locations remains high amongst both expanding local operators, as well as buyers like Sanjeevan, looking to take on their first store.”

The Premier branded convenience store was sold on a leasehold basis off an asking price of £65,000.
