Specialist retail property adviser Christie + Co has sold Brean Convenience Store and Post Office in the popular Somerset village of Brean.

The sale will allow the outgoing vendors Barry Hunt and his wife Barbara to retire. The couple have operated the community store with the assistance of their daughter, who worked as the designated Post mistress.

The Post Office has been purchased by Jon and Sue Richardson from Bridgewater, who have spent many years holidaying in Brean. Jon has had previous convenience store experience and the Brean Post Office offered a great opportunity for the Richardson’s to relocate.

Jon and Sue were particularly drawn by the property’s substantial six bedroom owner’s accommodation, which boasts private access onto the seven mile long beach that stretches from Burnham-on-sea to Weston-Super-Mare.

The business will continue to operate under the new Community Post Office model allowing the local community and tourists to continue to benefit from its services.

Dave Morris of Christie + Co’s specialist Retail team in Bristol handled the sale. He comments: “We congratulate Jon and Sue on this excellent acquisition and wish Barry and Barbara Hunt all the best for their retirement."
