The popular former village inn and restaurant, The Britannia Inn in Knowle, is set to reopen following a sale coordinated by specialist property adviser Christie + Co.

The business, which was renowned locally for its excellent food offering and won a Silver Award in the ‘Taste of the West’ Pub Dining category in 2013, closed over the summer of 2015.

It has been sold for an undisclosed sum off a £275,000 asking price to local operator, Nicholas Stiling, following a short but extensive marketing campaign.

Mr Stilling, who also runs the Salterton Arms in Budleigh Salterton, plans to reopen the pub and rebuild its reputation as a fantastic destination pub for food and drinks.

He comments: “I have lived in Budleigh Salterton for the past 20 years and have worked in one of the pubs and currently landlord of another. I am looking forward to a new and exciting challenge of running the Britannia Inn in Knowle.""

Stephen Champion, South West licensed specialist at Christie + Co’s Exeter office who handled the sale, says: “Britannia Inn generated significant and competitive interest, and its sale is excellent news for the communities of Knowle and Budleigh Salterton. We wish Mr Stiling all the best with plans

“We have no doubt that the pub with be in good hands with Mr. Stiling and wish him all the best with this superb acquisition.”

Britannia Inn will open its doors to the public in early December.
