Local convenience store in Stechford comes to the market

An iconic local convenience store in Stechford, Birmingham, C H Brown & Sons, a family business for over four generations since opening its doors in 1935, has been brought to the market through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.

The store is situated on a busy retail parade with a local surgery, primary school, nursery and library all within walking distance, generating high footfall and benefiting from a loyal and local client base.

Boasting a retail area of c. 1300 sq ft, the store benefits from an off licence section, PayZone, National Lottery and an in store ATM. Additionally, there is a small utility room, store room and warehouse with a walk in chiller, as well as a former two bedroom upstairs accommodations, which has been converted for commercial use, further storage, a staff room and office.

Owner, Stephen Brown comments, “This is a momentous step for the Brown family and it will be quite a wrench to leave our wonderful staff and loyal customers, but the time is now right for us to move aside and allow someone new to take the reins. We are sure that in the right hands, this will offer a new owner the rewards, both financial and personal, that it has given us.”

Karmen Freimuth, Retail Business Agent at Christie & Co’s Birmingham office who is handling the sale comments, “Now on its fourth generation of ownership, Mr Stephen Brown is preparing for retirement and looking for a new operator to take over the business. With a weekly turnover of over £15,000 and a great local community client base, we do not expect this store to be on the market for long. This opportunity would suit both first time buyers and existing retail operators looking to expand their portfolio.”

Christie & Co is seeking offers in the region of £175,000 for the leasehold of C H Brown & Son.
