Popular public house in Renfrewshire comes to the market

The Thorn Inn in Johnstone, Renfrewshire has been brought to the market through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co as current owner, Pamela Castell of the traditional public house plans to retire.

The detached traditional stone property is laid over two levels with a single storey extension added to the side of the property. Boasting an impressive barrelage performance, the extensive bar area on the ground floor is tastefully set out around three areas. The property also includes a large private car park for approximately 10-15 cars to the rear of the detached property.

Extremely popular with the locals and benefiting from a degree of passing trade, the inn has multiple opportunities to further increase revenue. The business currently does not have a food offering, an area of business that could be introduced to increase turnover. Additionally, there is an apartment on the upper floor of the property which is currently not in use, but could be refurbished as owner’s accommodation or has letting potential.

Current owner, Pamela Castell comments; “After 21 years, it is with mixed feelings that I have decided to place the business on the market with my planned retirement.”

Brian Sheldon, Regional Director of Christie & Co who is handling the sale comments; “The Thorn Inn represents a typical provincial pub, a meeting place for the local community which has served many a patron over the years. Prominently positioned, the pub is 100% wet sales driven and there is tremendous opportunity to further increase trade, especially if a food offering was introduced.”

Christie & Co is seeking offers over £450,000 for the freehold going concern.
