Sanders Newsagents in County Durham brought to the market

Sanders Newsagents, a local convenience store and post office in the village of Fishburn, County Durham, has been brought to the market through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.

Sanders News is a Best One branded convenience store, newsagents and local post office with average weekly shop sales of c. £10,000, boosted by post office income and lottery commissions of around £14,000 per year. In 2017, the post office was integrated into the business to provide additional services for the local community. Sanders Newsagents presents a new owner with the opportunity to take on a well established business and consider a level of modernisation.

There is an owners’ flat above the store, which was adapted from previously being two separate flats, providing spacious accommodation for a family to live on site.

Sanders Newsagent has been owned by the same family for 33 years. The current owner, Billy Sanders is now seeking a sale in order to pursue retirement and comments, “This is a family business and would be a perfect opportunity for a new husband and wife team to carry on this long established business.”

Andrew Birnie, Director at Christie & Co is handling the sale and comments, “We have worked with Mr Sanders for a number of years and look forward to finding a buyer to allow Billy to retire from running his own business and move to the next stage in his life. Sanders Newsagents is an ideal store for owner operators seeking to live on site and running their own business full time.”

Christie & Co is seeking an asking price of £250,000 for the freehold interest of Sanders Newsagents.
