Traditional Bedfordshire pub brought to the market

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has brought to the market The Green Man, a traditional pub, restaurant and hotel in the Bedfordshire hamlet of Stanford.

Set on a plot of approximately 1.5 acres, the large, attractive property dates back to the 1700s and occupies a prominent roadside position. The Green Man comprises an ‘L’ shaped bar with dining space for approximately 40 covers and two large restaurant areas, which offer formal dining for a combined 150 covers, in addition to a large beer garden. Above the pub, there is a two bedroom owner’s flat on the first floor, which includes a living area and kitchen and can be accessed via a separate entrance.

The Green Man also features 18 well appointed en suite letting rooms, many of which have recently undergone refurbishment. Five rooms are situated in the main building and the remaining 13 are located in an adjacent building. Additionally, there is a large shingled car park with space for 50 vehicles.

Ideally located on the B658, near the A1, The Green Man attracts both corporate guests in the week and leisure guests at weekends and enjoys an enviable reputation for its quality food and service.

Following over five years of ownership, current owner, Paul Symonds, who has a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry, has decided to sell the business in order to focus on other business projects. He comments, “I have thoroughly enjoyed the past five years at The Green Man and will miss the fabulous team here, who have worked incredibly hard to achieve the enviable reputation that we enjoy today. The business is in great shape and I feel that the time is right to hand over the reins to a new owner, who can continue to take the business from strength to strength.”

Tom Orchard, Business Agent at Christie & Co is handling the sale and comments, “The Green Man presents a fantastic opportunity to acquire a desirable business with a strong following. We anticipate the opportunity will appeal to a hands on owner operator or an investor who could run it under management.”

Christie & Co is seeking an asking price of £1,500,000 for the freehold interest of The Green Man.
