The popular restaurants, two of Leeds most famous fish and chip shops, have been run by husband and wife team, Mr and Mrs Koker for a number of years under the Bryan’s brand. Noted for being two of the best seafood restaurants in Leeds they have served quality fish and seafood with a dash of character for decades.

Bryans of Headingly and Fisherman’s Lodge Street Lane have been taken over by Catch Seafood Ltd. Catch Seafood restaurants also boast a genuine pedigree which stretches back nearly 100 years. Originally founded in the north east, the family-run business began back in the 1920s, catching and supplying fish to the local area. Since then Catch has grown into Halifax, Holmfirth and Harrogate. The next step is to expand the Catch mini fish and chip empire further in Yorkshire.

Led by managing director Sarah Stuttle, Catch prides itself on putting a modern but respectful twist on the classical fish and chip restaurant with stylish fittings, lighter and healthier menu options, a broader selection of drinks and a relaxed but professional service.

The Catch team say they picked Bryans & Fisherman’s Lodge because of the restaurants’ reputation as two of the town’s real gems in the food scene. New owners Phil Rushfirth, Andrew Bartle, Patrick Allen hail from the local area and are excited about expanding the brand and delivering top quality food, service and an exceptional dining experience. They plan to make some exciting changes, such as full refurbishments which they believe customers old and new will love.

They comment, “We approached Bryans & Fisherman’s Lodge because they really are an institution here in Leeds and we love it just as much as everyone else. But as with all institutions, it should be as relevant in the future as it is today, and we think that by bringing a bit of the Catch magic to both restaurants over time it will be just that.”

Previous owners, Mr and Mrs Koker are looking forward to pursuing other similar business investments in Leeds and Harrogate following the sale. Mr Koker comments, “Having instructed Sam at Christie & Co to sell Bryan’s in Headingley, he found Catch Seafood wanted to purchase both my restaurants which concluded in a great result for everyone. My wife and I are excited about investing in a new business in Yorkshire soon. Thank you to Sam and the team at Christie & Co for their efforts.”

Sam Ashton, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co comments, “With the Bryan’s name carrying such weight around Leeds to restaurant and fish and chip operators, I was confident both restaurant premises would attract good interest and I am pleased to have introduced Catch Seafood to Mr Koker, meaning a great result for the end of 2019.”
