H&M Hotels acquires Lake District hotel through Christie & Co

Stonecross Manor Hotel in the Lake District town of Kendal, Cumbria has been sold through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co off an asking price of £1.5m.

The buyer is new hotel group, H&M Hotels whose sister company, Everbright Lodge owns Rossett Hall in Wrexham and the Wild Pheasant in Llangollen. The business will be operated by Onecall Hospitality.

Mark Worley, Director at Christie & Co who handled the sale comments, “Although well known and superbly positioned at the gateway to the Lake District, the 30 bedroom hotel was in need of some investment and a fresh approach.

“We are delighted to have found a buyer who plans to do just that which is great news for staff and customers. We wish Mark and all at H&M Hotels all the very best in this venture.”

Mark Chambers, MD of Onecall comments, “Stonecross Manor is one of Kendal’s best known hotels and it is our intention that it will be the first in a unique collection of character hotels under the ownership of H&M Hotels. We plan to fully refurbish the bedrooms, bar, restaurant and function room to re-establish the hotel as a focal point for the community and a prime tourist destination.”
