One of Manchester's most established restaurants comes to the market

One of Manchester’s most established and longest running Turkish restaurant, Cafe Istanbul, has been brought to the market by specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.

Located on Bridge Street, the 120 cover restaurant has served authentic Turkish and Mediterranean food for almost 40 years since opening its doors in 1980. Now its owner, Sacit Onur, is looking to retire.

Following extensive refurbishments in 2015, Sacit re-launched late-night music venue and private dining area, La Gitane in the basement of Cafe Istanbul which has capacity for 60 people and licensed until 2.30am.

The interior of La Gitane was designed by Bernard Carroll who is also responsible for the interiors of Panacea and San Carlo.

Keith Stringer, Associate Director in Christie & Co’s Manchester office who is handling the sale comments, “We’re delighted to be marketing such an established and well located site. With an independent basement area in addition to the restaurant, this is a great opportunity to acquire an established and successful site in a superb location.”

Sacit comments on his time at Cafe Istanbul, “We’ve lived through so many changes in the city. When we opened in 1980 we truly were a cafe which quickly expanded into a restaurant and bar as the sector quickly became more popular.”

Cafe Istanbul is being marketed with Christie & Co at an asking price of £300,000 for the 15 year, free-of-tie leasehold.
