New bar concept planned for Nottingham suburb under new owner

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has completed on the sale of the former Townhouse Bar & Kitchen site in Arnold, Nottingham to a buyer with a strong background in hospitality.

The Townhouse Bar & Kitchen historically traded as a bar and restaurant, regularly hosting popular live music events and enjoyed a strong local reputation until it ceased trading in Summer 2018.

The owner of the property, Nick Howdle, previously ran The Townhouse himself and decided to sell the leasehold interest so that he could focus on a new business venture. He comments, “I approached Christie & Co to handle the sale thanks to their reputation and knowledge of both the market and buyers for licensed premises. We’d like to thank Gavin for all his expert guidance and assistance and wish the new owners the best of luck for the future.”

New owner, Julie Haynes has a background in the hospitality industry and is keen to take the opportunity to rebuild the previously popular and successful business. She comments, “Arnold is very much an up and coming suburb of Nottingham, The Townhouse Bar & Kitchen is the perfect opportunity to be the ‘best out of town’. We will be bringing top entertainment alongside great food & drink to premises that has previously been very successful and greatly missed. Our new team of over 20 employees look forward to welcoming both previous and new customers.”

Gavin Webb, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co who handled the sale, comments, “We received numerous enquiries on The Townhouse thanks to its previous excellent reputation and strong location. Julie’s plans for the business will no doubt be embraced by the local community. The level of interest we had in this opportunity demonstrates the ongoing market demand for licensed opportunities. We wish Julie and Nick the best of luck in their new business ventures.”

Christie & Co marketed the property on a new lease basis.
