Oxfordshire pub & restaurant with rooms sold to experienced operators

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has completed on the sale of Sturdy’s Castle, a pub and restaurant with rooms close to the market town of Woodstock, in West Oxfordshire, to experienced operators.

Occupying a large, impressive Cotswold stone property, set in its own grounds, the pub comprises an 80 cover restaurant, 50 cover bar, a private dining/conference room for up to 50 guests and 20 en suite guest bedrooms. Externally, the site provides a substantial trade garden for up to 80 covers, which is particularly busy in the summer months, and ample parking for up to 50 vehicles.

Situated on the A4260, the business sees a high volume of passing trade from local, leisure and commercial visitors drawn to the nearby historic city of Oxford, Blenheim Palace and the popular Bicester Shopping Outlet Village.

New owners, Brian & David Fensome, who are seasoned operators with several businesses in Australia, comment, “We are very excited to have purchased our first property here in the UK and look forward to providing a warm welcome to both the local community and visitors from further afield.”

Tim Widdows, Business Agent at Christie & Co’s Reading office comments, “Sturdy’s Castle is a fantastic property with great potential and I am delighted to have brokered the sale. The high value leasehold business attracted significant interest and is reflective of the buoyant market, demonstrating that high prices can still be achieved for leases.”

Sturdy’s Castle was sold off a leasehold asking price of £325,000.
