Award winning Somerset inn sold to Bramley Bars through Christie & Co

Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has sold the Lord Poulett, an idyllic village inn in Hinton St George, Somerset to growing South West-based operator Bramley Bars.

The popular and well-established inn comprises a substantial bar and restaurant area for 80 covers, and a well-maintained spacious trade garden for a further 100 covers. Additionally, the property offers five letting bedrooms, decorated to a high standard.

The Lord Poulett enjoys a strong reputation having earned numerous accolades including a mention in the Sunday Times’ UK’s 100 Best Restaurants in 2017 and has featured in the Good Eating Guide six times in the past nine years.

Having run the business for 15 years, previous owners Stephen & Michelle Hill now plan to retire from the trade and live in France, occasionally travelling back to the UK to visit family and friends, and no doubt dropping into the Lord Poulett.

The purchase of the Lord Poulett marks the third addition to Bramley Bars’ portfolio of pubs across the South West, joining their other sites the Beckford Arms near Tisbury, Wiltshire and the Talbot Inn in Mells, Somerset. Owners Dan Brod, Charlie Luxton, and Matt Greenlees comment, “We take on pubs with rooms that we love and work hard to make them even better. This is first and foremost a village pub and that’s what it will remain whilst attracting visitors from further afield.”

Nick Calfe, Director at Christie & Co, who handled the sale comments, “We are delighted to have sold the Lord Poulett for Stephen & Michelle who can now enjoy their retirement, knowing that the new owners will continue running the business under the same management and staffing and their pub is left in very capable hands. Demand for high-quality pubs in the South West remains high, particularly those which are highly recognised and well-invested such as the Lord Poulett.”

The Lord Poulett was sold for an undisclosed sum.
