The 31-bedroom hotel is situated in the heart of Cheltenham, the cultural capital of the Cotswolds, and is an impressive Grade II listed property dating from 1840 made up of five converted townhouses.

The George Hotel was purchased by Julian Dunkerton, the founder of international clothing brand Superdry, to add to his existing portfolio of hotels, restaurants and country pubs in the Cotswolds.

Matthew Smith, Director at Christie & Co’s Bristol office who acted on behalf of the seller Cotswold Inns & Hotels comments, “The George Hotel represented a rare opportunity to purchase a hotel business in Central Cheltenham, one of the UK’s most desirable towns.  Having carried out a comprehensive marketing campaign, multiple offers were received from property developers, hoteliers and overseas investors.”
