Christie & Co appoints new Global Managing Director after retirement announcement

Today, specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co announces that Darren Bond will replace Chris Day following his retirement from his role as Global Managing Director, effective from June 2020.

Darren joined Christie & Co in 2001 and is currently Managing Director responsible for Capital Markets, having also held the position of Managing Director for the firm’s valuation business since 2006. Darren has worked extensively on significant advisory and brokerage projects across Christie & Co’s specialist sectors, particularly in the healthcare, hospitality, and retail markets. A Chartered Surveyor, Darren has been responsible for growing the firm’s Valuation and Capital Markets team into one of the leading specialist real estate advisors in Europe.

Chris joined Christie & Co in 1985 and, having worked in the Manchester, Birmingham and London offices, was appointed Managing Director in 1993 with responsibility for all Christie & Co's specialist transactional and advisory activities. Chris has overseen the successful expansion of Christie & Co into a truly global firm, which currently has 27 offices throughout Europe and an active Asian Investment team. Chris was also the driving force behind the launch of Christie Consultancy in 2006.

Commenting on the announcement, David Rugg, Chairman of Christie & Co, said: “I am delighted to announce that after stringent evaluation Darren Bond will be appointed our next Global Managing Director of Christie & Co. Darren will spend the next couple of months looking at many aspects of the business before transitioning into his new role. This is an amazing opportunity to build on the many successful operations Chris Day has spearheaded, and after some 35 years of service I wish Chris well on his well-deserved retirement in June 2020.”
