Dating back to the 1750s, the Hardwick Arms was originally Sedgefield’s main coaching inn, serving as a stop for refreshments and overnight accommodation for stage coaches travelling from London to Edinburgh. Boasting a restaurant, bar and 11 well appointed en suite letting rooms, the inn offers comfortable accommodation and is especially popular with those visiting the nearby Sedgefield Racecourse.

The new owners are looking forward to taking over the reins of the hotel and plan to refresh the food and beverage offering and transform the external courtyard to the rear into an additional trading area.

David Cash, Business Agent at Christie & Co’s Newcastle office comments, “The sale of Hardwick Arms Hotel highlights the demand for licensed premises in the region. Having sold three pubs in Sedgefield in the last 12 months, it is great to see these properties retained as licensed premises and undergoing significant investment. With the market for pubs like the Hardwick Arms thriving, the residents of and visitors to Sedgefield are sure to benefit from these high quality establishments in the local area.”

The Hardwick Arms was sold freehold off an asking price of £345,000.
