Hastings pub comes to the market through Christie & Co

Jenny Lind, a well established pub and live music venue in Hastings, East Sussex, has been brought to the market through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.

Jenny Lind comprises a main bar with capacity for approximately 200 guests, stage area and second bar area with seating area on the ground floor, as well as a function room for 60 covers and commercial kitchen on the first floor. Externally, the two tiered garden to the rear offers fantastic views of the East Hill. Presenting a lively atmosphere and hosting live music events on weekends, the pub maintains an excellent reputation within the local and wider community.

Additionally, the business features six well presented letting rooms, which benefit from en suite facilities and can be accessed via a separate entrance to the side of the property.

Rich in history and most famous for the Battle of Hastings in 1066, the popular seaside town benefits from large numbers of tourists throughout the year to its numerous attractions, including Hastings Castle and the recently reopened pier. Hastings also maintains excellent road and rail links to London, Ashford, Canterbury and the Isle of Thanet.

Following 10 years of ownership, current owner, Mrs Linda Challis is now looking to retire and comments, “The pub is the go to place in the Old Town, known for its traditional but eclectic feel, open fires, lively dance floor, secret two tiered garden, regular vinyl nights, bar billiards league, and Sea Shanty singers. Being active members of the Old Town Traders association has enabled The Jenny to grow from strength to strength, supporting the many major Old Town festivals including Jack in the Green, Carnival week, Fat Tuesday, Fringe Festival and Pirate Day to name a few. “

James Hughes, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co’s Maidstone office is handling the sale and comments, “The Jenny Lind presents a fantastic opportunity to acquire a well known pub in the coastal town of Hastings. The site offers great scope to expand on a thriving and profitable business by introducing a food offering. Businesses in this area tend to generate a significant amount of interest and we expect nothing different with Jenny Lind.”

Christie & Co is seeking an asking price of £795,000 for the freehold interest of the Jenny Lind.
