The property was built by its current owner, local businessman and entrepreneur, Les Bennett. It is built on land previously occupied by a golf course, hence the name, and is situated in the countryside with views across the Duddon Estuary.  There is easy access to Barrow-in-Furness and a short drive away is Lake Windermere as well as the market town of Ulverston.

The hotel has 42 ensuite bedrooms including double, twin, family and the newly refurbished Bridal Suite.  There is a 70 cover restaurant, bar/lounge and the hotel holds a premises licence for civil marriages, with the beautifully decorated Hawthwaite Suite offering a perfect backdrop for wedding ceremonies.

Mark Worley, Director in Christie & Co’s Newcastle office who is handling the sale comments:  “Since laying the foundations, Les Bennett has invested heavily in the construction and extension of the building, as well as in the development of the business itself. The hotel now generates profits well in excess of £200,000 per annum and business is derived from the burgeoning local economy during the week and from an excellent wedding trade at weekends.”

The owner is now looking to retire and has commissioned Christie & Co to handle the sale at an asking price of £1.8m.
