Named after Queen Catherine of Aragon, the pub, which dates back over 300 years, is the last pub in the country named after Henry VIII’s first Queen. The pub boasts a large bar and lounge area with seating for 45 alongside an intimate and cosy restaurant with atmospheric open fires, which can accommodate 34 diners.

The pub, which also benefits from a two bed owner’s flat with loft conversion, has been in the hands of the Nick and Sandra since 2008. They are now pursuing a retirement sale.

Popular with walkers travelling along the Coast to Coast route, The Queen Catherine Hotel also provides accommodation in the form of four en suite letting bedrooms. There is also an award winning caravan and camping site within walking distance of the pub which brings in a lot of business.

David Cash, Business Agent in Christie & Co’s Newcastle office comments, “The Queen Catherine has so much charm and character that it actually dissuaded current owners Nick & Sandra’s original plans to immigrate to New Zealand. Originally from Teesside, they decided to move to Osmotherley instead. The business is very well established and benefits from multiple income streams by way of food, drink and accommodation sales, presenting an excellent opportunity for a first time buyer, or indeed an experienced operator.”

Christie & Co is marketing the freehold of The Queen Catherine Hotel at an asking price of £675,000.
