Cardiff store lock up sold through Christie & Co

Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has successfully completed on the sale of the former supermarket Bismillah Store, located in the popular residential area of Grangetown, in Cardiff.

The sizeable property includes one till position, a tobacco gantry and several storage areas and is situated in a convenient and accessible location on a main road, one mile from Cardiff city centre. Bismillah benefits from a high level of passing trade and is close to a local primary school and busy shopping area. Local footfall looks to further increase given recent plans for new residential accommodation less than a kilometre from the site.

The premises was run by the previous owner, Mr Rafiq, for two years, who decided to sell the property in order to pursue other interests. The availability of the site represented an excellent development opportunity in the heart of the thriving city of Cardiff and, having traded as a supermarket, was of interest to retail operators seeking representation in the area.

The buyer and new operator, Mr Haroon Muhmood of HKM Group Ltd, is looking to refurbish the store and use it for additional storage for another site, whilst also trading as a convenience store.

Jonathan Clements – Business Agent based in Christie & Co’s Cardiff office comments, “After actively marketing the site, we had a large number of viewings and, after several offers, we achieved an offer from a local existing operator off an asking price of £550,000, which further illustrates an improving market with increased demand for freehold and leasehold convenience stores in South Wales.”
