Seafront Newquay hotel with stunning views snapped up

The Kilbirnie Hotel, in the seaside town of Newquay in Cornwall, has been sold through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.

This seafront property benefits from uninterrupted coastal views and comprises of 66 en suite bedrooms, a large bar and function room with capacity for 200 guests, a restaurant for 150 covers, lounge, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a gym.  Arranged over four floors, this substantial asset also boasts a large commercial catering kitchen, extensive ancillary areas, and an apartment for use as owner’s accommodation.

The previous owner Bobbie Cobley managed the hotel along with her daughter and decided to sell after nearly three decades of ownership. The hotel was acquired by expanding hotel group Variegate Properties Limited, who also purchased the Crown Hotel in Cumbria via Christie & Co in 2017.

Stephen Champion, Senior Agent at Christie & Co comments, “The Cornish hotel industry has reaped the rewards of the weaker pound over the last season, with many owners reporting an increase in their top line hotel revenue. Buyer demand in Cornwall remains strong, with interest coming from both regional and international operators. The Kilbirnie Hotel sale follows the recent completion of Hustyns Hotel & Spa, near Wadebridge, to another expanding international hotel group.”

“We wish Variegate Properties Limited the best of luck with this new addition to their portfolio and look forward to seeing how they further develop this already thriving business. “
