Two award winning Cumbrian inns for sale with microbrewery

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has been instructed to sell the Strands Hotel, Screes Inn and brewery located in the beautiful hamlet of Nether Wasdale in the Lake District.

Positioned in the heart of the valley, the properties command stunning views of the surrounding fells and are perfectly positioned to explore the natural beauty of the Lake District including Wastwater and Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain. Originally built as a hotel and post house, many of the original features remain with log fires and wooden beams throughout both buildings. The Strands Hotel benefits from 14 individually designed en suite bedrooms, lounge bar, and restaurant, in addition to a three bedroom owner’s accommodation.

Current owners, husband and wife team, Mark and Lesley Corr purchased the Strands Hotel after falling in love with the 18th century inn during their very first trip to the village. In 2007, Mark opened an on-site microbrewery and recently opened the brewery shop. In 2017, Mark and Lesley purchased the Screes Inn pub with a further eight en suite letting rooms. The Strands has remained at the centre of local life in the village, winning Pub of the Year 2016 for Western Cumbria by CAMRA – Campaign for Real Ale.

Keith Stringer, Director at Christie & Co who is handling the sale comments, “Visitors to the area are sure to be impressed by the quality of both Freeholds and the brewery and the sale represents a perfect opportunity to further build on the current owners’ success as they plan a well-earned retirement.”

Christie & Co is seeking £2 million for both freeholds including the Strands Micro-Brewery.
