Kent village store changes ownership after 42 years

Convenience store and post office, Linklater Stores, situated in the heart of the charming Kent village of Rolvenden, has been sold through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.

The well-maintained store, which operates from an attractive three storey property fronting onto the main thoroughfare through the village, offers customers a quality shopping experience with well laid out shelving displaying convenience and household goods, newspapers and magazines, off licence and chilled and frozen foods.

New owner, Malar Rajananikkam is experienced in the retail sector and comments, “We are delighted to take over the store and are looking forward to building on the great service provided by the previous owners. The village is a perfect place to bring up our young family and we look forward to welcoming customers old and new.”

Jack Dudley, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co’s Maidstone office, handled the sale and comments, “This was a really attractive opportunity to purchase a village store, which, combined with the post office, is the hub of the local community. There were numerous enquiries, as expected for a large detached property in this charming Kent village, and the new owners are delighted to have secured this business and are looking forward to a long tenure.

“The volume of enquiries we received illustrates the level of demand for high performing convenience stores and post offices in the region and we expect this to continue throughout 2019.”

Christie & Co sold Linklater Stores off a guide price of £750,000 for the freehold interest.
