Traditional Kent village pub comes to the market through Christie & Co

The Halfway House, a traditional pub and restaurant in the village of Challock, Kent, has been brought to the market by specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.

The well maintained pub has a relaxed, family friendly atmosphere and retains plenty of charming character features, including wooden beams and open fireplaces. The pub’s spacious interior boasts three trading areas, including the main bar and restaurant area, a conservatory and a private function room, which cater for up to 100 covers altogether. The property also benefits from a large trade garden for up to 150 covers, as well as a children’s playground and a substantial car park with space for 70 vehicles.

The venue sits in a prominent location on a busy crossroads and benefits from high levels of passing trade. With an established reputation, The Halfway House attracts significant repeat business from both locals and the wider community, which a new tenant would immediately benefit from. The new free of tie lease is an advantageous selling point and provides an opportunity to further expand the business.

The current owner, Mr Subhash Shrestha, has run the pub successfully over the past two years but now wishes to focus his energy on his other local business.  He comments, “I have enjoyed the past couple of years at The Halfway House but feel the time is right to hand over the reins to a new operator who can continue trading this strong business immediately and take it to the next level.”

James Hughes, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co’s Maidstone’s office is handling the sale and comments, “The Halfway House provides an exceptional opportunity for a purchaser wishing to lease a business in this sought after area. As a result of the pub’s good reputation for its extensive menu and quality service, a new tenant could expect to take over this well-established business and hit the ground running!”

Christie & Co is seeking offers off a guide price of £190,000 for the leasehold interest.
