The hotel is located just past the picturesque fishing village of Tarbert, Loch Fyne, known as the gateway to the beautiful peninsula of Kintyre in the south west portion of Argyll, Scotland. The West Loch Hotel is a most attractive Lochside inn, well maintained and updated while retaining its essential character. It attracts visitors from all over the world, drawn by the beauty of the Kintyre Peninsula and its surrounding islands, as well as commercial custom from, amongst others, SSE, Scottish Water, Calmac Ferries, the NHS, professional divers and wind farm engineers.

The West Loch Hotel has a wonderful site overlooking the head of West Loch Tarbert, which is home to an abundance of wildlife, including herons, otters and a pair of ospreys, with deer often seen at the water's edge. It is a perfect base for visiting the islands of Islay, Jura, Arran and Gigha.

This stunning hotel includes a 40-cover restaurant with fantastic Lochside views, eight letting bedrooms, owner's accommodation and a Whisky Lounge Bar with an extensive whisky gantry.

The ground floor was built c.1890; second floor built c.1930s and the third floor c.1980. The front of the building was extended in 2003. Plans are prepared and were approved to convert and extend the hotel to 12 letting bedrooms.

The hotel is presented in very good order as the current owners have invested continuously in the property since purchasing the hotel in 2011. The business is now closed and has ceased trading and the current owners are looking to focus on other business interests and have instructed Christie & Co to bring the business to market.

Owners Andrew and Rosaline Ryan comment, “Our time spent at the West Loch was one we will always cherish. The welcome and support from local communities coupled with fantastic Islay trade and the on-going need for accommodation and good place to eat made for a successful and good life.”

Josh Hill, Business Agent at Christie & Co, who is dealing with this sale comments, “The sale presents an exceptional opportunity for the new owners as there is strong demand for accommodation in this area due to salmon farming. Additionally, lapsed planning had been granted to develop the hotel by adding further rooms and a second whisky bar is in development. We expect to see interest from a range of buyers including first-time buyers, experienced operators and developers due to the attractive asking price.”

Christie and Co are seeking an asking price of £200,000 for the freehold sale.
