Christie & Co finds new owner for Bromley restaurant

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, is delighted to announce the sale of Herberts Restaurant, located in the pretty village of Keston in Bromley.

Herberts is a detached village restaurant, which was closed in January 2019. It is a well presented restaurant which seats 35 guests in a range of casual chair, sofa and stool seating downstairs, and has a more formal dining experience for another 35 guests located on the first floor. The restaurant has been well maintained and regarded for creating an all-day dining experience, catering for morning coffee and cakes, brunch, lunch and dinner, as well as having been awarded many accolades including a Michelin listing and two AA Rosettes.

Located in a semi-rural village surrounded by an affluent community, this quality restaurant overlooks a large village common and benefits from excellent road access to South East London and Kent via the A232, which is less than half a mile away.

Our clients bought the restaurant in 2010 and originally traded it as a high-class restaurant called 'Lujon' for several years. Then in 2017 they renamed it to Herbert's with the focus on more of a full day bistro offering. They have taken the decision to sell to concentrate on their other businesses in Portugal.

The buyers are experienced coffee shop operators who own and run the nearby Daisy Grey coffee shop in Beckenham. They will be opening a second Daisy Grey, offering breakfast, brunch and lunch, with the intention to expand with a dinner menu.

Stewart Harkness, Director at Christie & Co, handled the sale and comments, “We are very happy to see that this popular restaurant site will have a new lease of life and are sure that locals will be glad to have a great place to meet again.”

Brian Love, Finance Consultant of Christie Finance, comments, “It was a pleasure to work with Third Wave Coffee Group Limited in securing the funding required to purchase the freehold of Herbert’s. Matt and Josie have the expertise and experience to help the business thrive and I wish them the best of luck with their new venture, and I look forward to continuing to support them”.

Herberts sold from an asking price of £850,000.
