The Furzedown is a substantial pub which holds a prominent corner position. It has a wealth of character features, including decorative tiled floors and ornate ceilings and glasswork which have been retained by the current owners. There are several trading spaces which provide a variety of uses. These incorporate the main bar area for 200 guests which includes a large bar servery with raised dining area, comfortable lounge area and raised games room. In addition, there is a ground floor function area with its own bar servery and facilities which can accommodate 100 guests, and a basement venue with bar servery which has the capacity for 150.

This sale includes the upstairs letting accommodation which consists of a total of 20 modern bedrooms located on the first and second floors, which provides a range of family rooms, twin and double bedrooms all with en suites with exception of one room. Externally, the pub provides a trade garden with covered booths, a barbeque and bar servery area which caters for outdoor parties and events.

The Furzedown is located on a prominent corner location on the busy A2016 which gives great access to Streatham Park to the north and Streatham Common to the south. It is equidistant from Streatham Common Rail Station and Streatham Rail Station. Furzedown is the southernmost area of the borough of Wandsworth and it is believed that its name originated from the 17th century and refers to the gorse that grew in the area.

Stewart Harkness, Director at Christie & Co, is handling the sale and comments, “This is a great opportunity to take on a pub with extensive trading areas and growth possibilities that rarely come to the market[FF1] . This is currently held on a tied lease with the EI Group and we are looking for experienced operators to assign or negotiate a new term. Due to the popularity of the opportunity we are looking for full business proposals.”

The Furzedown is on the market at leasehold price of £70,000.
