The freehold interest of the Carlton Lodge, a licensed award-winning guesthouse located in the picture postcard market town of Helmsley in the North York Moors National Park, is being sold by specialist property adviser Christie + Co.

Carlton Lodge is a truly impressive stone built property offering eight beautifully furnished rooms and serving locally sourced traditional Yorkshire breakfasts. The building retains many original features, including the staircase banisters which were sourced and made by the timber merchant who originally owned the building. The eight en-suite guest bedrooms, bright breakfasting room and comfortable lounge are complimented by the adjoining, relaxing owner’s home encompassing a lounge with attached conservatory, three double bedrooms, a large office and separate entrance. The only shared facility is the good sized kitchen.

Since 1989, the business has been under the ownership of Mr and Mrs Parkin, who are now looking forward to a relaxing retirement. They commented: “Living in a National Park is a huge privilege; glorious countryside, abundant wildlife and a very safe community bind well with this lifestyle business which has been a real joy to own for over 25 years. We chose Helmsley as the place to raise our family and work and it has been and continues to be a very rewarding and immensely fulfilling choice.”

Oliver Brown of Christie + Co’s Leeds office is handling the sale. He says: ""This is a genuine retirement sale which offers a prospective purchaser an exciting business opportunity in an idyllic location. We are sure there will be a high level of interest from those seeking a lifestyle change.”
