The renowned term time only nursery, which is registered for 42 children and is located on Dunkirk Lane, has been sold on a freehold basis to Mr and Mrs Hope, former operators who were looking to re-enter the market.
Nick Brown, Associate Director at Christie & Co commented, “After 30 years in the childcare sector, the previous owner, Mrs Rothwell, has taken the decision to sell Poplars and retire, and we have been advising her on the best way in which to prepare and bring the nursery to the market and make the sales proves as seamless as we could for her.”
“Once the decision was made to sell, we were able to market the nursery in a confidential manner by leveraging our contacts and offering the nursery to numerous well financed active buyers. Because of the impressive fee income that the nursery provides, the valuable freehold property, healthy profits and potential to increase the operating capacity of the setting further, we had a number of expressions of interest from potential buyers who saw this as an excellent opportunity.
“We wish Mrs Rothwell a happy retirement, and wish Mr & Mrs Hope all the very best of luck in their new venture.”
Mrs Rothwell added “I would like to thank Nick so much for all his hard work and handholding to get this sale over the line."
In the last 12 months, Christie & Co has advised on nursery assets with a value of £733.6m and has the largest dedicated team of childcare business property agents in Europe.
