Christie & Co completes third deal for National Care Group

Specialist property advisor, Christie & Co, has completed their third deal for National Care Group, a new entrant into the supported living market, as they continue to expand across England. All three businesses provide complex domiciliary care and support for mental health, learning difficulties and brain injury.

The first deal took place in February 2017 in which Highlea Homes in Durham sold 13 homes to National Care Group in a multi-million pound deal. The second deal was also for supported living facilities based in Durham which comprised of nine homes. In both sales Christie & Co acted on behalf on National Care Group.
The sale of Respite North West in Rochdale completed most recently, with Christie & Co acting on behalf of the vendor. The business comprises of three properties; two residential homes, one brain injury unit and complex domiciliary care.

Julie Kitson, Director at Christie & Co handled the sales and comments; “I have an excellent working relationship with National Care Group who are growing the business rapidly. By building a strong partnership we have been able to assist National Care Group with their expansion plans whilst ensuring all three sellers’ needs were met.

“Supported living is a niche sector which is demonstrating extensive expansion, and therefore appeals to investors and operators alike. Respite North West is a fantastic example of a business with massive growth potential and we saw a high level of interest in the business on the back of a confidential sales process. The often complex market of supported living will continue to grow as the requirement to give vulnerable people independence in life becomes a priority.”

James Guy, former Director of Respite North West Ltd comments; “Without good values there is no good care, and without good care there is no good business. National Care Group Limited have a vision to retain and build upon excellence, use their size to support the existing  services including the ground breaking Ashbrook Neuro Rehabilitation Centre in Rochdale the only service I am aware of offering a 7 day therapy service to maximise outcomes.

“We worked long and hard for a solution for a nice problem to have. Requests for services and new referrals were being turned down because of a lack of capacity in infrastructure and key personnel. Growth can risk quality something we were unwilling to compromise on. Fortunately the solution was found with the National Care Group and their acquisition of the organisation. Their values and vision for care matched those of Respite North West.”

Gary Greally, Managing Director, National Care Group commented, ‘We are delighted to have added Respite North West to our Group in the full knowledge that we have taken ownership of a top quality care provider that has been well led and developed. We have gained an excellent management team with three high quality registered managers and dedicated personnel and we look forward to working with them and continuing to provide the quality of care that they have become known for in the Greater Manchester area.

“Having acquired Respite North West our vision for it is to further develop the services in the area around ABI provision and Learning Disability and Mental Health needs. Christie & Co were instrumental in helping us in the transaction and we would like to thank Julie Kitson and her team for their efforts in brokering the deal. James Guy, Jay Riddle and Debbie Wild the former owners of Respite North West are assisting us in the transition and we will try and build on the excellent reputation they have built for the business.”
