Community store in Kent seaside village looking for new operator

Beachside Stores, a community convenience store in the Kent village of St Mary’s Bay, has been brought to the market through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.

Sitting in a busy parade of shops in a residential area of the village, Beachside Stores serves the local community by providing a range of grocery and household products, off licence, as well as National Lottery and PayPal services. The site also provides free customer parking directly outside, generating further customer convenience.

Additionally, the store has the benefit of offering customers hot and cold food-to-go, such as sandwiches and baguettes, with the site including a food preparation area.

The village of St Mary’s Bay is a picturesque seaside destination with a substantial residential locale and visitors drawn to the Kent coast, offering the ideal location for a local business to thrive.

Current owners, Sunil & Stella Patel, have operated Beachside Stores for the last 28 years, establishing a strong reputation within the community and a loyal, local following. They decided to sell the business in order to retire and comment, “We came down to Kent 28 years ago to escape the high pressure and fast life of London. We could not have found a better place to raise a family and enjoy the friendliness of the local community. Over the years we have added two new extensions to the shop and expanded our range of goods, selling everything from newspapers, groceries, beach toys, and plants, and our recent new addition of the food-to-go kitchen.

“Living by the seaside, you feel like you are on holiday all the time, with the beach within walking distance and fabulous golf courses nearby. The shop will provide someone with a golden opportunity to take the business to the next level and at the same time enjoy the quite pace of the countryside. Currently, a new housing development and holiday campsite are being built near the beach, which will benefit the business further.”

Jack Dudley, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co is handling the sale and comments, “I’m delighted to be offering Beachside Stores to the market. The store is located in a busy seaside location and benefits from both local trade and an influx of tourists throughout the summer months. This is a great opportunity for either a first time buyer or an experienced retailer to really grow this well-established store.”

The leasehold interest of Seaside Stores is available off an asking price of £99,950.
