A landmark building within the town, The Royal Hotel was a Grade II Listed building overlooking popular attractions including the Marine Lake and Kings Gardens. Originally built by Thomas Withnell in 1853-54 it was subsequently extended and in 1980 was joined with the adjacent Clifton Hotel.
Today the hotel, which trades within a franchise agreement under the Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western, has established itself as one of the area’s premier wedding and events venues. This is unsurprising, given the extensive banqueting and conference facilities including nine function rooms which cater for up to 300 guests, attractive lounge, restaurant, and bar areas, and a leisure club and health spa that is open to both residents and members. The hotel currently boasts strong RevPAR performance within its competitor set which is reflected in the business sales mix.
Having been purchased through Christie & Co in 2015, the business has been owned and operated by D’Urberville Hotels for the past four years and is being sold as part of a planned exit strategy. Christie & Co is seeking an asking price in excess of £6,000,000 for the freehold interest of the Royal Clifton Hotel.
